Twicehub update: Major and minor events
posted by likecheoreom Sun Nov 19 2023 17:18:03 GMT+0900 (Korean Standard Time)

There's a new update for the schedules today! It's not a huge patch, but there's a notable change to how Twicehub works: events are now split into major and minor tiers. In brief, they work as follows:

  • Major events - Events that are always shown on the schedules.
  • Minor events - Events that are hidden by default.

I wrote about dividing up events awhile ago, saying that events would be split into three categories, but have since decided that two works best for now. More divisions amongst the events may occur in future updates, but we have to see how major and minor events work out first.

Why split them up anyway? For two reasons. One, because a significant amount of people are only interested in the big events, and two, because sometimes the schedules can become crowded, so this can help make them easier to find what you're looking for.

Major events

First up, major events. Major events function just like events always have on Twicehub. In fact, most of the events on the schedules are likely to be classified as majors, including things like album releases, concerts, and radio show appearances. However, some of those kinds of events may end up in the minors, depending on whether or not it feels appropriate to place them there. We'll just need to experiment to see what works best.

In summary:

  • Major events are always shown on the schedules.
  • Examples of major events: album releases, concerts, and radio show appearances.
  • A specific example is Stray Kids' appearance on Inkigayo.

Minor events

Minor events are always on the schedules like major events are, but in order to see them you will have to click / press the option to show them, or check the "Show minor events" option in your account settings. Account registration is still open too by the way.

Note that only a fraction of existing events are currently planned to be converted into minor ones, so if you're worried about missing alot of stuff, you probably won't.

What are some examples of minor events? Right now they're things like award wins, promo messages, some CFs, along with a few other as yet undecided activities. As with the major events, we'll see which things end up being better off as minor events and which ones should remain as major ones.

In summary:

  • Minor events are hidden by default on the schedules.
  • Examples of minor events: award wins, promo messages, and some CFs.
  • A specific example is MISAMO's Billboard charting message.

Other changes

Home & Daily pages - The daily events section of the homepage allows you to look at not only the current day's events, but also the previous day and the next day. There is also an option to show or hide minor events. Users who enable the option to always show minor evens will have them shown by default. Also, events are no longer shown for Sakura, Chaewon, Yujin, and Wonyoung. Their schedules will still be available, but they will now be unavailable on the homepage and daily page.

Clear button - Added a button to clear the event name field in the Add and Edit event forms. This should make editing events easier in some instances, especially for mobile users.

What's coming next?

Unlike most updates to Twicehub's software, the next update will be focused on the boards, especially the News board. The changes it brings will allow for better quality articles to be made. The update should be out before the end of the year.
