NiziU make history with first show win, and comparing it with other groups
posted by likecheoreom Thu Nov 09 2023 12:54:42 GMT+0900 (Korean Standard Time)

NiziU have won their first music show award on Show Champion yesterday, and from what I can tell, it's a historic achievement because while many groups getting first place, NiziU are the first fully non-Korean group to do it. In light of this occasion, I thought I'd make a bit of a fun article, covering show wins for the idols that Twicehub has schedules for.

Looking at the data

  • Table 1. Idols that Twicehub tracks and the songs that won them their first music show. Individual idols like Sakura, Yena, and Wonyoung are counted as having their first win with IZ*ONE.

As you can see in Table 1, every group that Twicehub tracks schedules for has wins except VCHA who haven't debuted yet. VCHA do have a pre-debut album "SeVit" which is comprised of songs from their survival series A2K. They also performed the title track "Y.O.Universe" on music shows, but they've yet to get any awards for it.

Likewise, NiziU has had many releases over a period of three years since their own survival series Nizi Project ended back in 2020. As with VCHA, none of their releases earned them any wins on music shows despite their prior presence in the Korean market.

From one extreme to another

Interestingly, the idols in the second category from the above lists fall under some extremes in terms of show wins. NMIXX took the longest to get an award, earning it a little over a year after their debut for "Love Me Like This", the title song from their third release "expérgo". Stray Kids also came in first place a little over a year after debut, however it only took them 375 days compared to NMIXX's 400 days. Despite also missing out on wins for their debut, TWICE eventually became the girl group with the most at 121, while NMIXX unfortunately endures with just one.

Will NiziU also remain at one win for now like their Korean sister group NMIXX? It seems likely, as analysis of the other shows this week all indicate that the odds are against them:

Music show Projected rank
